Scanning around the web looking for a vehicle that would suit me as a training rig the other night I found the website of a group of lads (and they do seem to be mostly male!) who are having the same problems with quad use on FC land as us.
http://www.roughriderz.co.uk/newz.htmlParaplegic downhill mountainbikers can't use the pedals to get themselves to the top of the trails, so they use a quad to tow the bikes and riders up to the start. They have been told that the "clampdown" on the use of quads means that they can't do it any more, which effectively stops them from taking part in the sport.
Given that we all have such busy lives we probably don't all see the other forest users who have similar needs and problems, and although it is terribly sad that this enthusiastic group of outdoor sports enthusiasts have been affected by the ruling, it is nice in a way to know that we are not being singled out and that there are others in the same postion.
I would love one of those bikes.....apparently they cost around $8000, which is a
little outside of my price range!
