For those who train at Ae and wish to park up somewhere overnight, as an alternative to booking the bunkhouse I had a meeting earlier this week at the Barony College and have agreed that it is OK for folks to stop over in the Overflow Car Park, which we have used in the past during rallies. Another advantage of this is that the canteen facilities will also be available, at times when it would usually be open.

For security reasons ALL bookings MUST be made through myself, this was a condition made by the college.

There was no discussion around charges for these facilities being made available to us, however unless anyone objects, I thought £5 per vehicle, including a caravan if applicable, would be a great goodwill gesture.

THIS FACILITY IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE, DUE TO UNAUTHORISED PARKING.

That's a real shame Ewan. I don't think your original post could have been any clearer. Why is it the action of the few always seem to have a detremental effect on the many?

Not sure how much clearer it could have been made.  It is a real shame just when we were thinking of using it.  Any other suggestions?Huh

Other options that I am aware of would be -

The caravansite at Penpont, near Thornhill. A few of us have used this in the past, but is not that close 20/30miles?

The bunkhouse, owned by the local Scout group and is within Ae forest on the other side of the valley, can be booked by calling George on 01387 810334, probably within 3 miles of the forest.

Happy training.
