I found this snippet on a veterinary site...
"
Huskies are known for having allergic airway disease
"!
This can be caused by parasites so make sure your vet ruled that out! A good wormer is panacur.
I see that a lot of vets on the site will do what is called a bronchial wash to diagnose lung diseases, make sure they have done it as i dont think thye can get a real diagnosis without it!
Also found this snippet...
treatment of EB...
1) If side effects of pred are not acceptable or escalate to the point of being a problem, consider nebuliser with local steroid treatment - usually well tolerated with mask
2) Consider if possible food allergy component or not - any skin problems?
3) Avoid exposure to dust, smoke, aerosols and some types of bedding material that may aggravate allergies
4) Consider concurrent antihistamine treatment - rarely effective alone, but may help during times of year when allergies most severe or in periods of exacerbation
5) bronchodilator - if airway spasms/bronchoconstriction demonstrated or suspected (wheezing attacks?)
6) Mucolytic treatment - if mucus is very thick or seems to have trouble clearing it by coughing
also...
Inhalant steroids -- flovent may be a good option to try to limit the steroid side effects.
Hope that helps,
Beth
