it depends how he responds to treatment.  i have spoken to someone who had a sibe diagnosed at 3 and went on to continue running until she was 13 and lived to 16!  is difficult to predict but it does not matter either way, he may never be as good as he was but if he just potters around or even runs on a bike/scooter at his own pace by himself, i will be happy as long as he is!
